Two weekends ago, the playoff bracket went from six to two with stunning victories that came from both sides.  There now stand the squads that will play one another for the coveted trophy.  Who the best team of the Summer is will be decided in a best of three championship playoff.  The trophy will either stay put or head elsewhere following this finals match-up:

#3 Frozen Ropes (13 – 3) at #1 Pelham Village Wine (15 – 0)
The Ropes had to win two to get to this spot and did so with their typical dominant, lights-out pitching and timely hitting.  Anthony Yurchak stepped up on the rectangle for his squad in their quarterfinal game, throwing a no-hitter and striking out 18 batters.  During the game, Steve Yurchak went deep and drove in 3 runs.  Then, in the semifinal spot, Tim Yurchak threw a 1 hitter while Steve hit another homerun, Kyle Lucas went yard as well, and Rocco Justice capped it off with his own long ball.  They will now march into their old home field – Albert Leonard Middle School – to try and regain their lost trophy against the defending champs.  After an unbeaten season, the Wine continued where they left off winning another game in one-sided fashion.  Steve Chodan and AJ Romano both hit 2 homeruns as Randy Belfiore struck out 13 in 5 innings of work without yielding a run.  They had been hitting and pitching at such a high caliber all season and now it all comes down to this.  Can the Wine stand tall and keep their cup or will the dynasty of 2012 do what they’d done so often before?  It will be decided Saturday morning in New Rochelle.
